Organic Food No More Nutritious Scientists have revealed that organic and non-organic food contain pretty much the same amounts and kinds of vitamins and other nutrients. This might be surprising news for those of us who choose to buy organic believing it to be healthier. Researchers from America's Stanford University concluded that there might not be any extra health benefits to buying organic, thus people might be better off saving their money and buying non-organic produce. Lead researcher Dr Crystal Smith-Spangle said there was no difference in the vitamin content in fruit, vegetables, meat and dairy products in organically- and conventionally-produced food. She said the only difference was slightly more phosphorus in the organic products. Dr Smith-Spangle's review of over 200 different reports on organic food suggests people should perhaps revise their shopping choices, based on the levels of pesticides. Smith Spangler said both organic and conventional foods rarely exceeded the allowable limits for pesticides in the USA. She said the evidence wasn't too clear on whether the difference in pesticides would have an effect on health. She concluded by saying consumers should know there is overwhelming evidence that eating fruit and vegetables is good for your health, so people should eat more fresh produce, whether it is organic or conventional. Organic foods accounted for $31 billion in sales in the USA last year, up from $3.6 billion in 1997. ****Please share your thoughts on the above article*** Attachments:

The organic food is ubiquitous for years. Sometimes, I think it's just a trend. It's sold with higher prices than non-organic food. That's why most people believe it's better. I'm not a self-actualization about an organic food. I used to try, but I felt nothing different. So I believe in my body rather than a trend. According to an article that I did research online, it's said "While there are still on-going studies and tests to determine if organic foods are actually more nutritious than conventional foods, researchers have yet to determine any significant differences in nutrients between the two. However, the removal of chemicals and additives from their daily meals may be enough reason for people to stick with organically grown and processed foods." I think so. I esteem to both believes. For me, I prefer to have fresh food. I don't mind to have organic or non-organic food. I suggest people to use their competences about food to choose the way they want to be.

Organic food is just a one choice for customer to consume. Now,organic products or shops are ubiquitous. In fact,I believe that there is nothing better than naturally food but I was still held in esteem for everyone who think organic is better, high in vitamins and nutrition. For example, how do you know that the juice that you buy it is pure, organic and nothing add to it even though, the ads say it is. If there is nothing add ,why it has different taste or better taste than natural. I have experience about ketchup that i bought from wholefood. Absolutely,it is organic but, the reason that i bought is just because it is tastier than normal ketchup. It is light, smell fresh and pure. However, the consumers have their own competency to make decision about their healths, you are what you eat.To avoid having a tough life is just sleep well, eat well and think less would be enough.

Good use of the new words and I feel that you have a good idea, but I would like to hear more from you: i know you like to speak in class, now we have to get you to write those thoughts. ;D

Even though organic food seems more popular than a few years ago since nowaday people have competence about advantages of organic foods . In my opinion, the organic food is still not ubiquitous. One common concern with the organic food is cost. They are always more expensive than non-organic food. Is organic food more nutritious? The answer isn't yet clear. As I did look up on the internet, they said that a recent study examined the past 50 years' worth of scientific articles about the nutrient content of organic and conventional foods. The researchers concluded that organically and conventionally produced foodstuffs are comparable in their nutrient content. Research in this area is ongoing. For me, if I can afford organic foods, I will buy them. But my reason is not about the nutritious. I prefer the way it taste somehow. This is just my opinion, I hold in esteem to others.

Reading this article have raised so many questions in my mind: 1) What is organic food, anyway? 2) Is Organic food, better for me? 3) Is buying organic food better for the environment? 4) When is it worth the splurge?
These basic question that crossed my mind was fully explained in the website I have came across "The truth about Organic Foods by Jessica DeCostole.
She said that organic food is booming with about 70 percent increase in its sales figure. The main reason she said is that most of us, the reason is simple; we want natural food that's better for us and ubiquitos for the environment. But buying organic can cost you as much as 50 percent more.
1) Organic food can be produced by competent producers with certain synthetic ingredients, it must adhere to specific standards regulated by the United States Dept. of Agriculture. Crops are generally grown without synthetic pesticides and artificial fertilizers, irradiation (a form of radiation used to kill bacteria) or biotechnology. Animals on organic farms eat organically grown feed, competent growers said and are raised without antibiotics or synthetic growth hormones.
2) Organic foods may have higher nutritional value than conventional food, according to some research. As stated in the article above that scientists have revealed that organic and non-organic food contain pretty much the same amounts and kinds of vitamins and nutrients. 3) Organic farming reduces pollutants in groundwater and creates richer soil that aids plants growth while reducing erosion.
4) If you can afford it, self actualization can be achieved because you have the ability to buy local and organic. Competent farmers carry reasonably priced locally grown organic and conventional food.

what is organic food? Organic food production is a heavily regulated industry, distinct rom private gardening.Making a commitment to healthy eating is a great start towards a healthier life. Beyond eating more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and good fats, however, there is the question of food safety, nutrition, and sustainability . what is organic mean? The term “organic” refers to the way agricultural products are grown and processed. Specific requirements must be met and maintained in order for products to be labeled as "organic".
Organic crops must be grown in safe soil, have no modifications, and must remain separate from conventional products. Farmers are not allowed to use synthetic pesticides, bioengineered genes (GMOs), petroleum-based fertilizers, and sewage sludge-based fertilizers.
There is widespread public belief that organic food is safer, more nutritious, and tastes better than conventional food; these beliefs have fueled increased demand for organic food despite higher prices..

I think the price of purchasing Organic food here in the United states is just over the roof. I think besides the level of the pesticides that might be more in the conventional produce, I think I do agree to the findings of Dr Crystal Smith-Spangle , when she states that the level of different Vitamines and minerals would be about the same in both the produce. So, people in general just have to make conscious effort when choosing which one they would prefer to give to their families.

I fully understand what you mean, however If ind myself wondering what is organic? I know there are governmental agencies that help....but in all reality nothing can be "pure" organic in 2013. Seeds are even genetically modified. -CM-
